Team Bio
The Gujju Boys team brings together a powerhouse of talent, each with a unique voice and deep commitment to vibrant storytelling. Director Ahi Karunaharan (Srilankan-Tamil) has worked on stage productions worldwide. Recipient of the Arts Foundation Laureate Award, he is the founder of Agaram Productions and champions South Asian narratives in Aotearoa. Writers Shaan Kesha (New Zealand-Indian) and Mayen Mehta (South African-Indian) are accomplished actors, featuring on platforms like TVNZ, Apple+, BBC and Netflix. Both attended Script to Screen’s South Shorts programme which launched their writing careers. Producers Jimena Murray (New Zealand-Mexican) and Rina Patel’s (New Zealand-Indian) combined work experience spans across film, documentaries, theatre and commercials. Rina has series produced and managed over 35 short films through Day One Shorts and Jimena has produced for the Emmy-nominated Netflix series, Chef’s Table. This team blends their expertise to bring Gujju Boys to life with authenticity, humour, and heart.
