Join DEGANZ and PASC for an evening with Calvin Sang to hear about his experience directing action in his recent project Give Me Babies!
In this session Calvin will touch on how he got started in the industry, what he's up to at the moment, the genesis of 'Give Me Babies', what the process was like, from previz, to working with actors doing their own stunts, stunt doubles, doing takes on set, and then sweetening everything in the editing room with VFX and SFX, and much more!

Calvin Sang - Director
Calvin is a Chinese-New Zealand film director, founding member of Pan-Asian Screen Collective and a strong advocate for representation of minorities in front of and behind the camera.
He co-created and directed the action-comedy TV episode “Give Me Babies” as part of the TVNZ Motherhood Anthology.
Calvin’s film “Love is Real!” premiered as part of “New Zealand’s Best” at the NZIFF, before it was featured on the acclaimed online festival Short of the Week. His film “Buttons and Dumplings” was nominated for Best Film at Show Me Shorts, and internationally premiered at America’s largest documentary festival, DOC NYC.
He has directed episodes of “The Han Chronicles” (TVNZ) and “Friday Night Bites” (Flat3 Productions) and is in production on a Catalyst Short Film “Sunny Side Up”.
Strong original stories and high production values are at his core, and he has been recognised with multiple awards for his work: including being nominated for Best Director, Second Runner Up and a 6-time Finalist at 48Hours and Platinum Winner at the Hermes Awards.
Calvin is the Creative Director/Founder at Eyes and Ears, a production company where he has directed national ad campaigns for clients like Air New Zealand, Mercury Energy, Kiwibank and MILKRUN.
